Museum Activities
1. Cultivating Research
Ongoing research includes examining the Paleozoic fossils in the Akiyoshi limestone and the vertebrate remains from the Pleistocene to Holocene, studying the geology of the plateau and its karst topography, and continuing the speleological investigation of the caves. Other projects, involve examining the water system, cave life, calcareous plants, weather, studying archeology and human evolution.

2. Education of Scientific Importance
We organize educational programs such as nature-watching, cave exploration and interpretation for students in order to promote an understanding of the nature at the Akiyoshi-dai Plateau.
3. Conservation
We collect basic reference materials which illustrate the importance of nature and we actively pursue the conservation of the Akiyoshi-dai Plateau and the Akiyoshi-do Cave as special natural monuments.
